The Worksop Central Library and Museum was purpose built in 1938. The museum closed in 2003, and the building finally closed as a library in 2010 dispersing its collections to other museums and archives. The Aurora Wellbeing Centre opened in 2012 and we are planning to bring new life to the building that we now occupy.
As well as restoring the building to support the current wellbeing work of the charity, we hope to bring back elements of the museum and celebrate the history of Worksop.
The project is currently being developed and we hope to make a positive case for:
We need your help to explore the heritage of Worksop
We have been granted some money from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop the restoration project and would love to hear what you think, what ideas you might have, and if you have memories of the building.
Any photographs of the exterior and interior of the building would also help the architects to plan the restoration.
