Organised on a December 2020 calendar we have brought together mini actions and activities that we hope will give your wellbeing a lift. They are linked to the Five Ways to Wellbeing and are specific to Worksop and Aurora. We hope you enjoy taking part.

The Aurora December Wellbeing Packs

To celebrate the launch of our December Wellbeing Challenge we created a small number of Wellbeing Packs to keep our Worksop community feeling connected and supported during lockdown.

Aurora Staff and Volunteers nominated someone in the local community who they felt would benefit from receiving one and it certainly gave our wellbeing a boost! Thank you to all involved.

Core Programme

Our Core Programme of heritage activities is designed for Aurora service users and their families. They will include a programme of regular heritage activities, short courses and workshops, creative sessions and special projects.

Exploring the Past Project

A rolling programme of heritage focussed sessions, this project is for anyone with an interest in local history. The sessions, some delivered by local experts will reveal the story of Worksop from the prehistoric times to today.

Aurora Heritage Explorers Group

If you are interested in exploring history and heritage on your doorstep this for you. Join us three times a year to tour local attractions for free, enjoying trips, tours and talks.

Take Note: Sharing Memories

This project invites all people referred to Aurora the chance to contribute their voice to the Take Note: Oral History Project. Talk about memories, experiences of cancer and treatment and your hopes for the future.

Community Programme

Our Community Programme will reach out to the local community with a range of heritage activities, events, open days, exhibitions and projects.

Our Worksop - a town's curation of its past project

This project is central to our community programme and will bring together a number of projects that will develop the role of the old Library and Museum building as a community and heritage hub.

Take Note: Oral History Project

The Our Worksop project will see the launch of the Take Note: Oral History Project which will gather together local stories and memories about the town. Become an Oral History Volunteer and receive training in how to identify people with stories to tell, conduct interviews, record them, edit and transcibe.

Virtual Museum

The Our Worksop Project will also see the Virtual Museum created. Get involed and get the opportunity to develop the content for the Virtual Museum. Why not become a trained Volunteer Curator and help start this process?

Development Programme

Our Development Programme will create new volunteer roles and opportuities for skills training, develop research, share knowledge, develop resources and support local partners.

Volunteer Development

This is an exciting time to join us as a volunteer. The project will create a step change for the centre, restoring the building, broadening access to wider audiences, and introducing activities which explore how heritage can be used to improve wellbeing.

Volunteers will play a vital role in the project. The volunteer programme will provide opportuities for you to keep active, to give something to your communities, to connect with others and to keep learning.

Volunteer Training

Many of the projects provide an opportunity to get involved in range of formal, informal and technical training. Depending on your role training will include; oral history, working with historical collections and records, photography, text writing, disability awareness, dementia awareness and more.
