Wishing Tree
Wishing trees are places to leave your wishes and hopes for the future. Wishes are written down and hung from trees and legend says that tree spirits grant the wishes or the wind carries the wish to heaven.
Whatever you believe this is a great way for you and your family to reflect together, to feel hopeful for the future and grateful for what we have now.
What you need
Paper or card
Ribbon or string
Scissors
Decoration or colouring pencils/pens
Hole punch
What you do
Write down your wishes on card or paper. You may have a specific wish or you may have just a word or thought - 'love' 'health' 'comfort' 'connections' 'family'. You could make contact with friends and family and write down their wishes too.
Cut around and decorate your wishes. Make a hole in the card with the holepunch and thread a ribbon or piece of string through.
Hang the wishes to a tree in the garden or create a tree inside with twigs.
You could download and print out our wishing tree heart or star template.
