Welcome to Aurora Wellbeing

Heritage & Health Volunteer Opportunites

Due to the national lockdown and project construction, the Old Library & Museum and Aurora Tea Rooms @The Dukeries are closed. However, we are making plans to welcome new volunteers and have carefully reviewed our volunteer opportunities to ensure activities are Covid-19 secure. We have now begun volunteer recruitment.

We are looking to build a small team of enthusiastic volunteers to be part of the Heritage and Health Project: Returning the heritage to the Old Library and Museum. This is an exciting time to join us as the project will see the restoration of the Old Library and Museum and the introduction of heritage activities to boost wellbeing. Through a Virtual Museum in a newly created Heritage Hub within the building, the project will provide the local community with new ways to connect with its heritage and allow people to engage with locally important artefacts and stories.

Are you intrigued by the idea of a 'Virtual Museum' and are interested in supporting its development? This role could be for you.

We are seeking Volunteer Curators to start the process of creating the content for the Virtual Museum. The Virtual Museum is a digital platform that will reunite some of the collection from the former Worksop Museum in virtual form. Volunteer Curators will play a vital role in the Heritage and Health Project selecting a core set of objects, photographing them and telling their stories.

NEW Heritage Volunteer Roles coming soon!

Find out more about what is involved.

Wellbeing and Heritage Volunteers

Help support and deliver the core programme of heritage wellbeing activities, aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of people living with and beyond cancer.

In this role you will encourage creative practice which connects to the heritage of Worksop and people’s lives.

Oral History Volunteers

Through the creation of an oral history archive, the project will provide the local community with new ways of reconnecting with heritage and allow people to engage with locally important stories.

In this role you will help create an oral history archive by identifying people with stories to tell, record them, edit and transcribe some of those stories.

Heritage Hub Volunteers

In this role you will welcome visitors to the newly created Heritage Hub during special events and to support the development and delivery of public activities.

The Heritage Hub will provide local access to information about the history of the building and the local area, for the first time since the Worksop Museum closed.

Our volunteer programme also encourages a more flexible approach and if 'micro' or 'remote' roles are more your thing we welcome a chat about how we can support you. We hope you find a role that interests you.

Get in touch if you have any heritage volunteer queries or questions, or to register your interest in one of the roles. We would love to hear from you.
